The Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) is pleased to announce that the Fellowship Assessment Course 2019 is now open for registration.
SYNOPSIS OF THE COURSE
The Fellowship Assessment Course (FAC) is a programme which consists of Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and an Award Writing Examination.
Module 1 (10 & 11 October 2019) covers topics relating to the Laws of Contract, Tort and Evidence. Candidates who have obtained a degree in law from a university or other tertiary institution recognized by the SIArb (or such other legal qualifications as the SIArb may in its absolute discretion accept) are exempted from Module 1. All other candidates are required to attend Module 1 and pass the Written Assessment for that module before being eligible to proceed to the remaining modules and to take the Award Writing Examination.
Modules 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 (18 & 19 October 2019) cover topics such as the arbitration agreement, institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, appointment of arbitral tribunal, role and duties of the tribunal, law and rules governing the arbitration, arbitration procedure, conduct of arbitration hearings, drafting of directions, and drafting of the Award.
The Award Writing Examination (21 October 2019) is an open-book examination and will assess candidates on their knowledge of the topics covered in Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6, as well as their ability to write an Arbitral Award.
COMPLETION OF THE COURSE
To complete the FAC successfully, a candidate must (a) achieve 100% attendance of each of Modules 1 (unless exempted from that module as aforesaid), 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6; and (b) pass the Award Writing Examination.
A candidate who has successfully completed the FAC and who has attained the age of 35 years may, subject to satisfying other relevant criteria, apply for admission as a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.

Participants who wish to obtain CPD Points must comply strictly with the Attendance Policy set out in the CPD Guidelines. Participants are reminded to sign in on arrival and sign out at the conclusion of Day 3 and Day 4 of the event in the manner required by the organiser. Participants must not be absent from the event for more than 15 minutes on Day 3 and for more than 15 minutes on Day 4. Participants who attend Day 3 and comply strictly with the Attendance Policy on that day may obtain 6 Public CPD Points. Participants who attend Day 4 and comply strictly with the Attendance Policy on that day may obtain 5.5 Public CPD Points.
