About the Seminar:
In this seminar, barristers from Fountain Court Chambers will present their views on the latest innovations and controversies in international arbitration. Participants can expect to hear about:
• novel forms of interim relief, such as asset disclosure orders and FRAND injunctions;
• the willingness of arbitral tribunals to award summary judgment and strike out claims and defences;
• parties' ability to enforce interim awards overseas; and
• recent changes to Indian law affecting interim relief in arbitration. The speakers will cover developments in Singapore and elsewhere, and there will be an opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers on each of these topics.

About the Speakers:

Mr. Alexander Milner is recommended in directories as a leading junior in international arbitration. His arbitration practice focuses particularly on banking, aviation, energy, competition, fraud and corporate and shareholder disputes, as well as arbitration-related court proceedings. He has been instructed as counsel in dozens of arbitrations under the ICC, LCIA, SCC and ICSID Rules in London, Paris, Stockholm, Geneva, Zurich, Prague and Vienna, and as an expert. A Russian speaker, he has acted in many substantial cases involving parties from Russia and the CIS region, including most recently two SCC arbitrations concerning the sale and transit of natural gas between Ukraine and Russia where the total amounts in dispute exceeded US$100 billion. He also sits as an arbitrator and has been appointed to tribunals internationally, including in the International Commercial Arbitration Court in Moscow.
 
Mr. Gaurav Pachnanda is a Senior Advocate, based in New Delhi, whose practice before the Supreme Court of India and other courts and tribunals, is focused mainly on commercial and corporate litigation, including domestic and international arbitrations. He is also a Door Tenant at Fountain Court Chambers, London and Singapore. His international practice includes a wide range of commercial arbitration, litigation and advisory work; with a significant multi-jurisdictional component. Gaurav read law at the University of Jammu and at the University of Oxford, where he was elected a Felix Scholar. Between 2010 to 2014, he was the Senior Additional Advocate General for the State of Jammu and Kashmir, at New Delhi for representing the State before the Supreme Court of India. Gaurav was designated as Senior Advocate in December 2011. He is also a Registered Foreign Lawyer at the Singapore International Commercial Court.
 
Ms. Leigh-Ann Mulcahy Q.C of Fountain Court Chambers was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1993 and the Bar of the Republic of Ireland in 1998, and took silk in 2009. She is recognised by the legal directories as a Leading Silk in the fields of Insurance & Reinsurance, Professional Negligence, Product Liability and Administrative & Public Law, and was short-listed for “Insurance Silk of the Year” by Chambers & Partners in 2016. She has advised and acted for the UK Government since 1995 and also held the appointment of First Counsel to the Welsh Government between 2013 and 2016. As a specialist in appellate advocacy, Leigh-Ann has appeared in 5 cases in the Supreme Court and House of Lords (in all of them, successfully) and is currently appearing on an appeal to the Privy Council from Trinidad. In addition to her advocacy and advisory practice, Leigh-Ann also sits part-time as a Deputy High Court Judge, a commercial arbitrator, a Senior Decision-Maker for the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and an adjudicator. She is an accredited mediator.
 
Mr. Nik Yeo has a commercial practice specialising in complex litigation and arbitration, particularly involving banking, financial regulation (increasingly, in respect of cryptocurrencies), professional negligence, energy/natural resources, insurance and reinsurance. Many of his cases are international in dimension, and at present, he is representing a sovereign wealth fund in a US$5 billion investment management dispute, spanning at least 4 jurisdictions and 8 arbitrations, involving claims of breach of fiduciary duties, conspiracy and tracing. Before joining the Bar, Nik was a transactional solicitor at Slaughter and May, London. He was named by Legal Week as one of the up-and-coming Stars at the Bar, and Professional Negligence Junior of the Year at the 2016 Chambers and Partners Bar Awards.

About the Chairperson:

 francisgoh Mr. Harpreet Singh Nehal S.C is concurrently a partner of Clifford Chance and managing partner of Cavenagh Law LLP. Harpreet is a former Justices' Law Clerk and graduate of Harvard Law School. Admitted in 1992 and appointed Senior Counsel in 2007, he joined Clifford Chance in December 2012. Harpreet’s main areas of practice involve international arbitration and complex commercial litigation across a wide spectrum of industry sectors and legal practice areas, including banking and finance, oil and gas, equity and trusts, and company law. Harpreet has extensive trial and appellate experience in a wide range of large and complex commercial disputes, often involving significant international elements and multi-jurisdictional issues. The present edition of Chambers and Partners describes Harpreet as "an esteemed litigation and arbitration practitioner with deep experience advising clients on commercial disputes in the financial services, energy and TMT sectors".
